In the medieval context of Città Alta, the walls of the Ex Ateneo enclose the paradox of time. An exhibition that explores the evolving relationship between art and new technologies, conceiving a new figure of the artist capable of reflecting on all aspects of our era, including digital technology itself. There are various forms of contamination and hybridization, opening up new possibilities for art.

On January 19, 2038, in an instant, it will be December 13, 1901. They call it the 2038 bug; not just a simple date issue, but a real computer dilemma that will bring society to collapse. "It Was Today, 2038" is a betrayed trust, a broken promise. A space for reflection on society and its relationship with technology. An exhibition that imagines a not-too-distant future in which artists process impressions and data, from which emerges a dystopian vision of what is to come: paradoxes, hyper-control, the impossibility of the individual to know and recognize. Through the exhibition, the artists aim to shed light on a reflection about the future in order to think about the present. The project was part of the event The Blank ArtDate 2018 / Frequenze.

There are many forms of contamination and hybridization, opening new possibilities for both art and the artist. The latter, constantly challenged, is called to experiment with new forms of expression. Era Oggi, 2038 invites the viewer to experience the moment when the future becomes the past, where the present merges into history—an instant that disrupts time and the very essence of the individual.
